What is supported Housing?
Nottinghamshire Women's Aid Ltd manages twelve houses in the local area, on behalf of Nottingham Community Housing Association.

Our Supported Housing Scheme is available to women and their children who are fleeing all forms of domestic violence and require support to maintain a tenancy.

There are two workers who provide ongoing support tailored to your individual needs.

Who can apply?
Women with or without children who are escaping physical emotional or sexual abuse.

Is it for me?

  • Are you escaping from or affected by domestic abuse?

  • Do you feel you would benefit from regular support?

  • Do you need support to maintain a tenancy?

What happens next?
Once an application has been received, you will be notified in writing within two weeks, as to whether you meet the criteria.
If successful we will write to you offering an informal interview with a supported housing worker.
You will then be placed on the waiting list. We will contact you regularly to ensure we have up to date information and there are no changes in your circumstances that affect your priority.
When a property becomes available, the location and size of the property will be assessed against the priority of your needs and size of your family. A letter informing the successful applicant will be sent within one week.

What happens when I no longer need support?
At a time agreed by yourself and your support worker, your tenancy will be transferred to Nottingham Community Housing Association.

Supported Housing Drop In
There is a drop in session held every Tuesday afternoon between 2.00 - 4-00 pm, no appointment needed where you can access advice regarding the Supported Housing Scheme and any issues you may have.

Specialist Move on Project
This project offers temporary part furnished supported accommodation for women with or without children who are escaping domestic abuse and have issues of substance misuse. Properties are offered on a six month assured shorthold tenancies with the aim of helping you to find alternative suitable accommodation at the end of this period. Tenancies may be renewed if required.

Do you need support to maintain a tenancy and find permanent suitable accommodation?

How will the scheme support me?
Supported Housing Workers offer regular individual support sessions around issues of domestic abuse, managing your tenancy and finding alternative suitable accommodation.
Support around issues of substance misuse is offered by workers from specialist Drug Services, including The Women's Drug's Service and SORTED. Your Supported Housing Worker can discuss a wide range of support services available in Bassetlaw  with you.
