Who is the Children's Outreach Service for?
Children's Outreach is a service for children and young people up to the age of 18 who have experienced or who are living with domestic violence or abuse. Children's Services will also offer support to women with the aim of raising awareness and understanding of their children's experiences of domestic violence and therefore enable them to meet their children's needs in a positive and supportive way.

What happens at the Children's Outreach Service?
Children and young people are offered support by specialist Children's Workers around their experiences of living with and witnessing domestic violence.

We support children and young people through talking, listening, play, creative activities and group work. We offer one to one sessions and/or work within a group, to enable children to discuss and explore issues surrounding domestic violence in a safe and friendly environment.

Our aim is to enable children and young people to express and understand their feelings, build confidence and self-esteem and to build links within the local community. We will work together to help your child feel safe and to recognise that they are not the only one.

How to make a referral to the Children's Outreach Service
Referrals can be made by young people themselves, a family member, or by local agencies eg school, GP. If possible the young person's consent should be gained before making the referral.

Referrals can be made by telephone or in writing. A Children's Worker will then make contact with the family and arrange an initial visit to discuss how the service could meet individual support needs.

If appropriate a support worker will be allocated who will arrange a programme of support. This may include one to one sessions, group work, telephone support, drop-in support or signposting to other agencies.

Other information
Women can drop in to The Farr Centre, Chapel Walk, Westgate, Worksop to discuss issues around their children's experiences of Domestic Violence on: Tuesdays 10 am - 12 noon.
